FAQs

Frequenly Asked Questions

What is Low-E glass?

Low-emissivity (Low-E) glass has a special coating reflecting infrared and ultraviolet light while allowing light to pass through a window. This coating helps minimize heat transfer in a window, keeping buildings cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. This helps improve the energy efficiency of a building and reduces utility costs.

Why is argon gas used in windows?

Argon is an odourless, colourless, non-toxic gas used to fill the space between two or more panes of glass in windows. Since argon is a poor conductor of heat, it reduces heat transfer between the panes. This improves the thermal efficiency of windows by preventing heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer, reducing utility costs.

Do you manufacture the windows you sell?

We manufacture windows in our Lethbridge facility to ensure that what you need fits and functions as it should. All glass is manufactured in-house. Our PVC is supplied by North American PH Tech, backed by the highest industry standards and renowned for its exceptional quality. We pair every window with industry-standard hardware best suited to its application. Every window we build undergoes thorough testing, guaranteeing unmatched energy efficiency and durability.

Should I replace my own windows?
If you’re highly skilled and have the necessary tools, DIY window replacement might be an option. However, window replacement requires specific expertise to ensure correct measurement, safely remove old windows and ensure that new windows are installed correctly to avoid damage to the window frame. DIY cost savings are quickly drained when a new window is not properly sealed or insulated – drafts, leaks and moisture build-up can be costly. Professional window installation also comes with a workmanship warranty.
Why are new windows a good investment?

New windows can make your home more energy-efficient and reduce heating and cooling costs. The return on investment for new windows is 85%, so for every $1000 you spend, you get an increase of $850 in the value of your house. New windows that function well also make your home more comfortable year-round by reducing drafts, blocking exterior noise and providing fade protection to flooring and furniture.

For businesses and organizations, window replacement serves many purposes. Not only do they boost curb appeal, but they also make your space safer and more comfortable for your customers and staff. New commercial windows also help you save money on energy costs and maintenance fees.

Will you measure my windows so I can purchase and install my own?
Sorry, but this is not a service we offer at this time. However, we’d be happy to give you a free estimate and suggest an installation plan that suits your budget and timeline.
